The Blue Jays Placed Bo Bichette on the Ten-Day Injured List
Bo Bichette left yesterday's game with a strained right calf, and it's no surprise that the Blue Jays have placed the shortstop on the ten-day injured list. Striker Addison Barger was called up from Triple-A to replace Bichette on the active roster.
Bichette came out of the batter's box after a single to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning, but limped after a few steps. Last night's injury was the latest in a slew of calf injuries for Bichette over the past month, as he missed 10 days in the IL with another strain in his right calf in June. He also left Toronto's game on July 10 with what was described as a strained calf fascia, although with the All-Star break approaching, the Jays opted not to put Bichette in the IL again, hoping the time off would allow him to recover. up.
Unfortunately, Bichette now finds himself sidelined once again, and possibly for more than the 10-day minimum. Blue Jays manager John Schneider should update the media immediately on the result of Bichette's MRI, however even if the MRI was clean, the ongoing nature of this calf injury probably means that the Jays will choose the side of caution in giving Bichette more time to fully recover. overcome this issue.
More to come…
