With all due respect to Tiger, Rory, Nelly and their peers, professional golf is not the best part of the game.

The main attraction of golf is the places we take, the memories we make and the people we meet along the way.

Golf, that is, as most of us enjoy it, whether it's on our local course or a bucket list course far away. That's the game we're going to celebrate GOLF areaA new monthly podcast from GOLF.com now available wherever you get your pods: APPLE | SEND | HEART | AMAZON. (For a preview clip, see the video in this article.)

My partner, Simon Holt, and I collectively have over sixty years of experience traveling the globe to study – and the environments around – every continent where the game is played. Pine Valley? Pebble Beach? An Old Lesson? Augusta? He was there, he deceived them. As we have lesser known courses from Australia to Argentina, Cuba to North Korea, Long Island to Los Angeles, South Africa to Sweden and beyond.

Simon, who runs 8AM Travel, is from Scotland, where he has cut his teeth around the world. I grew up in Brookline, Mass., and got my first glimpse of the famous course by sneaking into The Country Club. But we both enjoy playing golf anywhere, and we're very happy if we can break 80.

Like our drives, our conversations will wander all over the place, but we promise to end up in interesting places. We will be talking, of course, a lot about studies. The ones we have played and the ones we dream of playing. And to give suggestions not only on where you might consider going but also how to get there, what to eat and other things to do and see when you arrive.

Very nice clubhouses. Excellent cocktails. Quirkiest traditions. Craziest practice grades. We have it for you. We will be interviewing guests. We will answer your questions. No topic is too big or too small, out of the ordinary or out of the ordinary.

Our goal is to convey the spirit of exciting clubhouse banter when you engage with your friends after a round – perfected with the expertise and detail of our many years of playing.

In GOLF area' first episode (links below), we'll give you a look at the latest 100 Golf Courses on the US list, which won't hit GOLF.com until later this week. Please join us in that conversation – and wherever our journey takes us.
