Who wins the Open Championship on Sunday?

The final men's major of the year ends on Sunday at Royal Troon, but the 152nd Open Championship is wide open. Billy Horschel leads the way at four under, six under three (including Xander Schauffele) and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler two back two. Also in the mix are Shane Lowry (one under) and Justin Thomas (even). In total, 11 players are in the top four. Who brings it out on Sunday?

Sean Zak, senior author (@Sean_Zak): Xander Schauffele. Men's doubles season for the first time since 2018. Long enough to fight the wind, and play freely. A lot of guys on that leaderboard are going to feel the pinch.

Zephyr Melton, assistant editor (@zephyrmelton): Scottie Scheffler. He had a bad week with the putter, and despite that he enters Sunday two shots behind the lead. He put on a great ball-striking masterclass on Saturday on the back nine (his ball on 17 might be the shot of the week) and kept himself in contention despite some bad conditions. It's strange to think that the best player in the world enters the final round of being a great player under the radar with only two returns, but that's the situation Scheffler finds himself in. Maybe it's wishful thinking of me, but I think Scheffler gets it. done on Sunday in Troon.

Jessica Marksbury, senior editor (@Jess_Marksbury): I really like this feeling of anonymity when you go into the final round – you can charge a few guys at the top of the leaderboard. But I'm very impressed with Sam Burns. After an incredibly poor start (76!), he battled back with rounds of 69-65 to move up to within one shot of the lead. While others are cringing, he seems to be holding a hot hand. And I think he's under the radar enough to deliver a comfortable performance and claim his first claret jug.

Josh Berhow, managing editor (@Josh_Berhow): I'll take Xander Schauffele, who now has a major under his belt, to play consistent, flawless golf on Sunday and win his second major. I think Scottie Scheffler (naturally) will be there too, but I'm looking at Xander's experience (and the one stroke edge over Scottie) to be the difference. But, PS – I would love to see Daniel Brown win.

Jack Hirsh, assistant editor (@JR_HIRSHey): My heart really wants to say that this is the year Adam Scott, no one is talking about, wins the Open Championship. But if we take it seriously, he's another guy on equal footing. With the exception of two and a half hours on Friday, no one is playing better this week than Justin Thomas. He would have been under nine if he played the front 9 even on Friday. Thomas is crazy again and shoots a 65 to win this one, his third major.
