Amanda Serrano dominates Stevie Morgan, Katie Taylor Rematch Next
Boxing is a sport based on standards, and on Saturday night, July 20, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, Amanda Serrano proved that her opponent was no match for her, as she stopped Stevie Morgan (14-2, 13 KOs) in the second round.
Amanda Serrano is a well-known seven-division world champion who on Saturday night entered the ring for the 50th time of her professional career. In the co-main event of Jake Paul vs Mike Perry, Serrano had a short career night as he immediately overwhelmed his opponent.
Back in March 2024, joint featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano returned to Puerto Rico for her homecoming fight against Nina Meinke. The day before the fight, Serrano suffered an eye injury, and was ruled ineligible to compete.
An emotional Serrano was devastated as he apologized to his Puerto Rican fans who came out to support him. A month later, a big announcement was made as Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 2 would be the July 20 co-main of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.
Unfortunately, Mike Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up and due to Tyson's medical problem, the fight was postponed. Jake Paul decided to keep the fight date as he signed to face Mike Perry and Amanda Serrano was to face Stevie Morgan.
In the opening round of the super-lightweight belt, Amanda Serrano threw several opponents and continued to wear down her opponent with numerous shots to the body and head. Morgan made the mistake of standing with his chin in the air.
Despite the fact that he made himself an easy target by making a few serious technical mistakes, Morgan managed to get out of the first round. In the second round of the fight, Serrano went into beast mode as he hit Morgan with a flurry of punches.
After seeing Stevie Morgan take a major penalty, the referee stepped in and stopped the contest. For the first time in three years, Serrano finally collected another stoppage win.
Amanda Serrano (47-2-1, 31 KOs) was very pleased with her performance. Now she can focus on bigger and better things as she is set to seek the spotlight against undisputed super-lightweight champion Katie Taylor on November 15.
