Mike Tyson is next for Jake Paul after a sixth round Mike Perry KO

JAKE Paul defeated substitute Mike Perry, forcing a sixth title stoppage in their eight-round bout at Amalie Arena, Florida, last night.

'Platinum' Perry arrived with bareknuckle boxing experience but made a pitiful ring resume. The 32-year-old Floridian's only career breakthrough came in a fourth-round knockout of Pensacola's Kenneth 'Bullet Hands' McNeil (6-1) in 2015.

Bringing nothing to the table other than hot flashes, a painted face and a history of violence, Perry arrived in Tampa as a busy body for Paul to knock on on the July 20 date reserved for the Mike Tyson fight.

That streak was ended when Tyson had a medical incident on a plane and was withdrawn due to health issues. The veteran heavyweight has promised to be in shape to fight Paul on their rescheduled date of November 15 at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas.

In last night's main event, it quickly became apparent that Perry was no challenge for Paul, who circled the ring, throwing a hard left jab. Paul shoved a right hand into the opening that dropped Perry for the count. Seemingly unfazed by the fall, the mover kept his hands down.

Although Paul isn't the best fighter on the scene, his skills are clearly more than the workers and jaunters dragged into this kind of new story. Perry was down again in the second round from the same right. Injured near his right eye, Perry, to his credit, was at least riding forward, trying to fight it out.

He had a good third round. Not that he won it (Paul said with a left jab), but at least he didn't get knocked down. While the right hand worked well for the fight favorite, the fourth round saw Perry land his first landing left hook.

That same fight came to the sixth and as he wandered around the center ring, it was seen that Mike's emotions were greatly affected. Seeing the jelly legs as quickly as anyone, Jake Paul jumped in for the kill. Clubbing swings from both hands sent Perry to the canvas. He stood up and stared at referee Christopher Young without saying a word.

When Mr. Young asked him to cross the ring, Perry staggered like the shoppers across the street in Tampa bars. Young called his night right. Jake Paul improved his record to 10-1 (7 KOs), while Perry is now 0-2.
