A new update on Celtic's “amazing” hero after £15.1m was revealed
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has released a new update on the future of the “amazing” Celtic player this summer, with new developments emerging.
Celtic transfer news
The Hoops continue to be linked with signings in the summer transfer window, including USA's Tanner Tessman, who is plying his trade for Venezia. The 22-year-old has won two caps for his country so far, but is a young player who will be expected to add to that tally.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Brendan Rodgers has discussed with Michel-Ange Balikwisha, and the striker from Royal Antwerp seems to be eyed by Celtic as they look to add fire to others in the final third.
Adam Idah impressed on loan from Norwich City last season, scoring key goals on his way to the Hoops' Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double, including a late winner in the final against Rangers. Bristol City striker, Tommy Conway, is being considered as an alternative to Idaho if they fail to bring him on a permanent basis.
Another rumored target for Celtic is Polish midfielder Jakub Kaluzinski, with the Scottish giants believed to be keeping tabs on him. The 21-year-old has two years left on his current contract with Turkish club Antalyaspor.
Taking it to XRomano said Atalanta have tabled a new bid for Celtic star Matt O'Riley, with an offer of €18m (£15.1m):
At this point, it sounds like Celtic may have to resign from O'Riley leaving the club this summer given the amount of interest in the midfielder, and the number of clubs believed to be interested in a deal.
While Liverpool are also tiedAtalanta's pedigree is undeniable following their Europa League triumph last season, and the Danes could see it as the best opportunity to turn them down.
Replacing the 23-year-old would be very difficult considering he has been the creative hub of his side for so long. He scored 19 goals and registered 16 assists last season, and Rodgers said of himself in the past:
“He was really amazing in his combination. I think if we were missing something as a team, maybe that was it. But from an individual point of view, the return of his goal… I think someone said he scored his first goal. [of last season] in January of last year.
“So looking at his numbers now, of course [a] a big testament to him, because the work he does, his daily focus on training to improve and get better, that is obviously rewarded by his teammates and everyone else. It's so worth it.”
