I hate that I just asked that question. But I am worried.

At the risk of sounding pretentious, I loved the historical power of my younger days. Those were brand name programs like USC, Arizona State, Texas, Miami, Florida State, Wichita State, and Oklahoma State. The next wave of my choices included Clemson, Rice, LSU, and South Carolina. And of course, there are many other traditional powers that I could list here.

But all the while, Augie Garrido and the Cal State Fullerton Titans gave baseball something that no other major college sport had: an underdog that could win it all.[…]
