Joe Joyce predicts he will knock out warhorse Derek Chisora this Saturday night in the final at the O2 Arena in London.
'Juggernaut' Joyce (16-2, 15 KOs) is looking to make good by knocking out Chisora (34-13, 23 KOs) to set himself up for a big, potentially world title fight. It would be Joyce's second straight win after two knockout losses to Zhilei Zhang in 2023.
Joyce, 38, says Chisora previously avoided him when he wanted to fight him, and feels he had reasons for not wanting to face him until now.
Chisora's many losses over the past four years have put him in a bad position where he can't turn down a main event fight against Joyce, even though it's not a great matchup.
Joyce appeared angry during an interview today, looking upset. Things have not been going well in his career recently, with two losses to Zhang and then watching one of those knockouts, Daniel Dubois, take the IBF heavyweight title. Now he gets a big payday defending Anthony Joshua.
It must be frustrating for Joyce to see other fighters improve when he faces the 40-year-old Chisora.

“You're guessing. He will try,” said Joyce, reacting when he was told that Chisora predicted a knockout in the first round. “I believe that I will stop him. I'm not sure when because he has such a strong character. He'll probably face the storm for a while, and I'll take him out whenever I see a chance.”
If Joyce's boxing streak has suffered from his two defeats in the 2023 fight against Zhilei Zhang, Chisora has the power to capitalize on that. It would be wise for Joyce to get Chisora out quickly to avoid anything big happening.

Chisora is still as strong as ever, but what is lacking is his speed. He's never been fast, but he's slowed down over the past five years and it's getting easier for his opponents to see his punches coming. In addition, Chisora doesn't get out of the way of boxing like he used to, and his Joe Frazier style of running away from the shot is no longer effective.
“There are other fights that I won't worry about but this will definitely stop me. I'm here to stop him in his tracks. I'm still a threat. I'm still alive, and I still feel like I'm in my prime. I have a lot more to offer sports. I arrived late,” said Joyce.
