Steph Curry Warns Of Dangerous Mistake That Could Boost Team USA

Steph Curry says that there is a way that Team USA may find themselves in danger of losing the games during the Olympics and if they do not stick to their playing title.

Curry's comments come after the US managed to beat South Sudan by one point on Saturday night.

“We can't lose if we don't play our style of basketball,” Curry said after LeBron James led Team USA to avoid a historic upset, instead holding on for a 101-100 victory.

“And our style of basketball is playing defense. We didn't make them uncomfortable in the first half and they took advantage. But we also learned that we have that gear if we can find it, no matter who's on the field, we can beat teams for 40 minutes and it's a big reminder of both.”

The loss would have been very good considering South Sudan is the smallest country in the world and has never played basketball in the Olympics before.

Team USA coach Steve Kerr held his own in near-distraction.

“I didn't do a good job preparing our team, I think we didn't focus enough on what they can do and that's on me,” said Kerr.

“They played a good game and the end was good for us to hear that. Hearing what it's going to be like in Paris and Lille … it's a good reminder that when we play teams, it's a big game in their lives and we have to expect everyone to play like that.”

The US and South Sudan will meet again during the group stage at the Olympics on July 31 at 3pm ET.
