Inter Miami announced that both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez will miss the 2024 MLS All-Star Game due to injury, the club said on Monday.
Messi suffered a serious ankle injury in the Copa America 2024 final while Suarez suffered what the team called “knee discomfort.” The Uruguayan forward appeared in Inter Miami's matches against Chicago Fire and Toronto FC. “And their availability for Saturday's League Cup match will be assessed according to their daily recovery process,” Miami said.
Messi is considered week-to-week during his recovery, but the player was seen wearing a walking boot.

FC Cincinnati's Luciano Acosta, the 2023 MLS MVP, has been named team captain for the second year in a row. Acosta previously captained the team against Arsenal.
Inter Miami begins its defense of the Leagues Cup on Saturday against Puebla of Liga MX. Losing both Messi and Suarez will be huge blows, but the team has done well in MLS when both compete in the Copa America.
The Herons beat the Philadelphia Union, Columbus Crew, Nashville SC and Charlotte FC outside of those two. The team's only loss was a 6-1 defeat by FC Cincinnati.
