Brittney Griner, known for disrespecting Anthem, playing for Team USA: 'It means everything'

After her arrest in Russia, Brittney Griner heads to Paris with a new perspective. Two years ago, Griner was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison for drug possession but was released in a high-profile trade deal with arms dealer Viktor Bout. Reflecting on his return, Griner expressed deep gratitude for wearing a Team USA jersey again.

“It honestly means everything to me,” Griner said. “The honor of wearing it again and possibly winning gold is the icing on the cake.”

Earlier, Griner had suggested that the WNBA should stop playing the national anthem and was kneeling in the middle of the 2020 civil unrest.
