The start of the 2024 Olympic Games football tournament marks the beginning of the end of Brazil's run of two consecutive titles in the men's competition.
The Selecao, however, will be proudly represented in the women's tournament, which starts a day later and includes Team USA trying to win a record-breaking fifth title.
Apart from three senior players from each nation – including the likes of Manchester City's Julian Alvarez, Argentina's Julian Alvarez and Morocco's Paris St-Germain's Achraf Hakimi – the 18-man squad must include under-23 players.

The men's games begin on July 24 and conclude with the gold medal match on August 9 at PSG's home ground at the Parc des Princes.
The women's tournament starts on July 25 until August 10, where the decider will be played at the Parc des Princes.
The UK's full Olympics coverage will be on Discovery+ and Eurosport, which will show over 3,800 hours of live action in its entirety from 7am to 10.30pm BST each day.
Their broadcast, available on TV and app, is part of Warner Brothers Discovery's 2015 deal for European TV rights that was reportedly worth 1.3 billion euros.

A competition for men
Hosts France are the men's champions, led by Euro and Uefa Champions League winner Thierry Henry and Lyon captain Alexandre Lacazette.
Spain won silver at the Tokyo 2020 Games and can call on two Euro 2024 winners Fermin Lopez and Alex Baena, while Alvarez is one of four Argentine players in contention to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, along with Nicolas Otamendi, Geronimo Rulli and Thiago Almada. .
The quartet will be led by two-time Olympic champion Javier Mascherano, who could become the first to win the men's Olympic football championship as a player and coach, having done so on the field in 2004 and 2008.
Morocco has never won an Olympic medal in football but reached the semi-finals of the last World Cup and is competing for the eighth time with the help of a star named Hakimi, having won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations for under-23s.

Women's competition
Although the USA men's team will start as fifth favorites for the title when they open their campaign against France, the USWNT are set to reach the final for the first time in three tournaments under former Chelsea manager Emma Hayes.
Spain are the world champions, having reached the women's tournament for the first time. Ballon d'Or Feminin winner Aitana Bonmati will almost certainly be La Roja's inspiration.

At 34, eight-time Champions League winner Wendie Renard will be France's key back in manager Herve Renard's swansong, while 38-year-old Brazil's top scorer Marta will be aiming to extend her record by becoming the first . soccer player to score points in six consecutive Olympic games.
Defending champions Canada are seen as dark horses alongside Colombia, while the likes of Japan, Australia and 2016 champions Germany are among the likely winners.
