Ten Hag's £24 million striker is now open for talks to join Arsenal

The £24 million striker, who is a target of Man United and Erik ten Hag, is now in talks to join Arsenal through his agent, with the north Londoners still in the market for a new attacking option before August 30.

Edu and Arteta are Arsenal's new signings this summer

A number of different reports have linked the Gunners with signing a new striker this summer, with manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar eyeing both a striker and another wide man in Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners have pulled a U-turn.

The signing of the long-serving striker is seen as the last missing piece of Arteta's jigsaw by supporters and pundits alike, with the likes of Ajax star Brian Brobbey targeted by Arsenal as Edu looks for an alternative to Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian scored just eight goals in all competitions last season and the Arsenal manager appeared to prefer Kai Havertz as a forward option last season. Arteta is now looking for a young strike partner for Havertz, but it will be interesting to see if they choose a straight forward, a striker or both.

Arsenal are believed to be looking for a new star to replace Saka and provide cover for the England star. The 22-year-old, who scored 20 goals and registered 14 assists in all competitions, has also made nearly 50 appearances and Arsenal have a number of squad members who could step in to emulate his heroics in Saka's absence.

The likes of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams and Wolves star Pedro Neto are reportedly on their radar ahead of a potential breakout. According to GiveMeSport, Arteta is reconsidering a move for Williams, while Neto is believed to be keen on joining Arsenal.

However, both men will come at a hefty price tag given their star status, with Arsenal set to spend £42 million on the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. It is not clear how much money Edu and his team-mates will be able to spend in the coming weeks, but Emirates transfer chiefs will be looking to secure high-quality deals at a very reasonable price.

A very good option for this would be Turkish international and Galatasaray striker Baris Yilmaz. The 24-year-old, who rose to prominence at Euro 2024 and registered 19 goals at club level last season, is available for just £24 million.

That's according to Sabah, who also says that Yilmaz is set for talks to join Arsenal through his representative.

North London officials will meet with the agent of Yilmaz, the versatile striker who is attracting interest from Ten Hag's Man United and other Premier League clubs.

Sabah wrote that Yilmaz would not leave for less than £24m, but it would be a price worth paying given how limited he is in his homeland.

“There is only one Premier League level player in Turkey, that is Barış Alper Yılmaz!” said former Galatasaray player Umit Karan.

“Take it, put it in Manchester City, it doesn't matter. Barış Alper will make the biggest transfer in the history of Turkish football. He has a very good body.”
