Toney is set to end his Brentford contract and leave on a free transfer in 2025

Ivan Toney is ready to let his contract lapse and leave Brentford on a free next summer according to talkSPORT.

Toney was part of the England squad that reached the finals of Euro 2024, and scored in the penalty shoot-out win against Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

The 28-year-old is hoping to move away from the Bees this summer, but so far progress seems to be slow on the move.

Toney is prepared to downgrade his contract

The England international returned to action earlier this year following an eight-month ban for breaking betting rules.

The striker scored four goals in 17 games last season, all of which came in the first five games back from his suspension.

The Athletic reported last summer that Toney would be worth between £80m-£100m, but now it seems he is worth around £50m.

Toney has only a year left on his contract and is likely to leave Brentford this summer.

Toney had attracted interest from Chelsea and Arsenal in January but a move to either club failed to materialise.

The striker will return to Brentford next week after the club's pre-season trip to Portugal, and a decision on his future is likely to be made soon, as a new deal is unlikely to be signed.

However, talkSPORT have reported that Toney will be ready to drop his contract and leave on a free next summer.

The report adds that the two Premier League clubs who have expressed the most interest are West Ham and Tottenham, with Toney hoping that Spurs will go, while clubs in Saudi Arabia are also thought to be interested.

Toney was linked with Manchester United earlier this summer, but they have since signed Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, while Arsenal and Chelsea appear to have completely cooled their interest.

With teams now in pre-season misery and the new campaign just around the corner, Toney will be a player to keep an eye on, and it's surprising how many clubs don't seem interested in a player of his quality.
