Arsenal have been told that two players could cost them the Premier League title

Arsenal have challenged Manchester City for the Premier League title for two consecutive seasons.

On both occasions, the Gunners failed to win the league title, losing to Pep Guardiola's Man City.

The Gunners are expected to challenge again but must add depth to their squad.

Mikel Arteta's side had the best defensive record in the Premier League last season and are eager to sign a new defender.

However, they may need more in their attack and a top scorer could win them their first league title since 2004.

Football pundit Shaka Hislop believes Arsenal strikers Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz could cost them the title next season and to win they need to fill their gaps.

Hislop has made it clear that he is not sold on the issue of Havertz playing as a striker and Jesus does not have what it takes for the Gunners to cross the finish line.

He told ESPN how the North Londoners need to improve their attacking options.

“The defense is not the first thing you think of when you think Arsenal need to improve,” Hislop said.

Kai Havertz was one of Arsenal's best players last season.

“But it really came down to Arsenal's attack. While Havertz, at times, came up in important moments, the most important games with goals. I'm just not sold on Havertz as a striker who will lead a team that will win the Premier League. I feel the same way about Gabriel Jesus, who I felt had a surprisingly good start when he first joined Arsenal.

“There is still that door that needs to be discussed. Arteta is right, the margins are really slim, especially when you consider how good Manchester City continue to be. “

Kai Havertz exceeded expectations at Arsenal last season

Havertz was involved in 20 goals in the Premier League last season, scoring 13 times and adding seven assists to his tally.

The German finished the season strongly and was often featured at key moments in the title race.

His goals or assists were not enough for Arsenal to win the league title last season but his role as a goalscorer and creator cannot be ignored.

He is unfairly criticized at times but last season he showed why Arteta invested heavily in him to sign him from rivals Chelsea.

He can improve his final product but remains a valuable member of the starting line-up.
