Gray opens up about 'madness' in first few weeks at Tottenham

Tottenham's latest addition Archie Gray says he has been inspired in his first few weeks at the club.

The 18-year-old signed from Leeds in a deal in excess of £40million and has already impressed the club's fans.

Gray has had to fill in at centre-back in Spurs' pre-season games so far in the absence of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin, but he has looked calm and composed in his new home.

The Young Lion plays his best football at right-back or in midfield but will have a tough time untangling Tottenham's current crop of stars.

However, Gray remains optimistic as he continues to settle and will feature throughout the team's tour of Japan and South Korea in the coming weeks.

Speaking to the club's media he said: “It's been great so far.

“I really enjoyed training and getting to know everyone. It was crazy.

“I've been watching myself on TV since I was fifteen, maybe even younger, especially Ben [Davies] and people like that [Heung-Min] Son – they are the players I look up to.

“It's only in my mind to think that I hope to play with them. It's been good so far.”

10 for Davies

Gray has spoken of Ben Davies as an inspiration to him growing up and it's no surprise that the Welshman sits high in his rankings.

The defender recently completed his tenth year at Spurs making him the club's longest-serving player.

He thought about the last decade and agreed that wearing a white shirt never gets old.

Davies said: “It's one of those things where it's obviously a long time, but it feels immediate. There have been a lot of ups, a lot of downs, but I wouldn't have it any other way… it's been great.

“There are many highlights, but I think back to when I made my first game at this club, the first time you pull on the shirt, you see the size of this club, you see who you are playing for, and you feel that. responsibility.

More than 10 years later, that feeling has never gone away.”
