Golf Business News – LIV Golf launches sustainability impact leaderboard
LIV Golf has announced the creation of its Impact Leaderboard, a first-of-its-kind golf forum that establishes a competitive aspect of the impact and sustainability work done by teams and league players as part of LIV Golf's. Possible, Released step.
Sustainability and social impact are at the heart of Possible, Releasedprogram announced in 2023 that demonstrates LIV Golf's commitment to enabling and promoting a better future for the game of golf.
LIV Golf's Impact Leaderboard tracks efforts by the league's 13 teams to give back to their communities, support young people around the world, and promote sustainability. As they have done since LIV Golf's inception, the teams will continue to support charities and programs they love, from expanding the variety of golf, educating young people, environmental sustainability, and more. For their charitable work they are awarded points throughout the year, and the teams with the highest scores will be announced as winners before the next season.
Scoring is provided by a team of experts from Think Beyond, LIV Golf's global social impact and sustainability team, and the LIV Golf Social Impact and Sustainability team. The top four teams will be awarded $150,000, and 100% of the prizes will be donated to the teams' impact and sustainability initiatives.
“LIV Golf teams are committed to making a positive impact through the game of golf and the Impact Leaderboard provides a platform to showcase the competitive spirit of athletes in a truly meaningful way,” said Jake Jones, Senior Vice President of LIV Golf. Impact and Sustainability. “As the league teams continue to develop and elevate their programs that support communities around the world, these programs will deliver a holistic impact and sustainability effort for years to come.”
Three teams that have already made a significant impact are Majestics GC, Smash GC and Iron Heads GC. This week, Majestic announced a partnership with their flagship show “Little Sticks” and Complete PE, an interactive Physical Education resource, to positively impact nearly 40,000 students in over 200 schools each year and provide every child with access to golf as part of their school's Physical Education curriculum.
In 2024, Smash GC launched the program Smash for Success Junior Golfer Scholarship as well as Mentor of the Year Award and the first recipients were celebrated at LIV Golf Houston last month and at the LIV Golf Team Championship event in September.
Iron Heads GC community program, Fix Your Local Muni, is designed to impact local junior golf programs by encouraging and motivating junior golfers to leave their local municipal golf course cleaner and greener than when they found it. To date, Iron Heads GC has partnered with Junior Golf Programs at five events in four countries, which have had a positive impact on hundreds of young people and thousands of golfers this season.
