Joel Embiid Asks Why Everyone Hates Him So Much
Joel Embiid is an NBA player who is easy to dislike, or hate, but he doesn't quite understand where to start.
“I'm probably the most hated guy in the league,” the Philadelphia 76ers star said during the game The Check Ball Show. “I don't know why, because I'm just cool. I don't know what I hate about it. I feel like a lot of people are hearing my story and what I've been through.”
There are many reasons people seem to hate the Sixers big man.
One of those reasons is that he seems to smoke.
There could have been a very interesting matchup between him and three-time MVP Nikola Jokic if Embiid had been healthy enough to play.
He likes to be a little honest sometimes. Like recently, when he said he suggested that Team USA's LeBron James is no longer in charge as he was at his best physically.
LeBron is 39 years old and doing things Embiid would never dream of doing.
Then, there was the whole Ben Simmons fiasco in the playoffs, where Embiid threw his teammate Simmons under the bus with his postgame comments.
Let's not forget, Embiid is one of the most famous floppers in the NBA and had the most flops of all time this past season.
The center got a lot out of Philly, despite not getting past the second round.
Some fans may hold him personally, even though the embarrassment of leaving the finals was due to his teammates.
But, as the man himself says, some people can relate to his journey and what he went through.
The 30-year-old battled through chronic foot injuries in his first two seasons in the league, but was able to pull through and win his first regular season MVP in 2023.
