Why these Italian golf shoes are my new daily go-to

Duca del Cosma sports styles are cool, comfortable and suitable for both on and off the course.

Despite the evolution of golf fashion over the past few decades, there has been one thing about my golf attire that has remained the same: My love for the white shoe.

I've always been a stickler for pairings, and colorful shoes often present a new worry: How can I blend them seamlessly with whatever else I'm wearing? The white shoe gave no such confusion. So, I used to stick with what I knew would always work.

But anyone who has been paying attention to the fashion scene at large understands that shiny, colorful shoes are all the rage right now. And that's why I'm excited to find a pair of Duca del Cosmas — the leading Italian shoe and accessory brand that's celebrating 20 years in business this year. The sporty, shiny, multi-colored golf shoes were out of my usual shoe comfort zone, and I was excited to run in them.

I was impressed with the model I received, the Olivera in Orchid/Pink, from the moment I opened the box. They are beautiful, with an attractive combination of color blocking and texture that gives them a unique and highly sophisticated look.

Meticulously handcrafted from a combination of plain and tumbled Nappa leathers and Dura Nilo nylon for incredible durability.

I was also pleased with the feeling in the foot. The memory-foam cushioning is excellent and extremely comfortable, and the sole gave me a little lift, which is always appreciated. The shoes are also fully waterproof, and come with an extra set of matching laces.

The spikeless outsole allows me to wear the shoes both on and off the course, and given the lifestyle appeal of this style, I fully intend to wear them everywhere.

My colleague, Jack Hirsh, tested the same men's style, and here's what he had to say:

“I tried the Davanti (Light Blue), which looks and fits like a sneaker, and looks similar to a basketball shoe,” he wrote. “The difference is a bright and fun color that can find a place in your shoe rotation like your white or light colored shoes. The style also goes well with blue and orange.

“The most important consideration is fit, and mine fits perfectly at a size 11, which is true to size for me,” she continued. “The Davanti strikes the perfect balance between smoothness and ease of release and stability in the golf swing. The lugs on the outsole provide good traction even in slippery conditions.”

Designed for performance, the Davanti features a waterproof sock system, memory foam padding and adjustable traction.

Olivera and Davanti are two of Duca del Cosma's sports selections, but the brand's complete range of footwear includes a wide range of options, including loafers, boots, high-top styles and classic styles.

Oh, and the best news of all? They made an all-white pair as well. Several, in fact. Although I have now adopted the Olivera, I may be a convert to bright colored shoes.
