Kevin Nolan believes a move to Everton would be the best option for Manchester City's sacked Kalvin Phillips.
The midfielder joined the Premier League champions from Leeds United in the summer of 2022 but injuries and competition for places have limited him to just 31 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Phillips – the 31-year-old England international – was loaned to West Ham United for the second half of the 2023/24 season but struggled to make the impact he wanted, making just 10 appearances in all competitions and totaling just 320 minutes.
This summer, Phillips has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium with Everton one of the clubs thought to be interested.
Nolan was David Moyes' assistant manager during Phillips' spell with the Hammers and believes a move to Goodison Park could be just what the 28-year-old needs to get back on track.
Nolan backed Sean Dyche to get Phillips back on track
“Sean Dyche is someone who can give him the support he needs,” Nolan told talkSPORT.
“He has a good team in his room and the way they use fitness trainers so being around them will help him.
“He will also be at home, which was a big deal as he came down from London.
“He had just had a baby, but everyone forgets all those things when we go here, there and everywhere and our wives and children go somewhere else while we put them or they go to the houses. .
“Coming to try to sleep when his missus just had a baby and stuff like that, it was a difficult time for him – off the field, like that.
“I think (he's got a fire in his belly) and he's no one else, but it's like 'I'm going to show you' and he's looking for himself more than anything else.”
“He's definitely got the ability and I hope he gets back to where he's been in the last few years and I've no doubt that when he does, England will come knocking again.”
