Which Mode Are The Calgary Flames In… Rebuild or Retool?
Calgary Flames Closer to Retool than Rebuild
TSN: Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado joined Jay Onrait last week on SportsCenter as he broke down one burning question facing Canada's seven teams. Moving to the Western Conference, Corrado believes the biggest questions facing the Calgary Flames are what kind of team they are and where they are going in terms of rebuilding or rebuilding.

NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames GM Craig Conroy Restocks Cabinet
Jay Onrait: “For a long time Frankie, the Calgary Flames didn't like to use the word rebuild, and you know it came down from its owner Murray Edwards who didn't like that word, but here we are. They seem to embrace it now. Craig Conroy has stripped that list down.
Nazem Kadri is still there, but that may not be the case at some point this season. Ryan Huska, how do you think he should feel about this rebuilding roster as we head into next season?”
Frankie Corrado: “I think the big question for him would be what we will be as a team because there are still good players on that list. Some are like veterans. Nazem Kadri is one of those guys. Jonathan Huberdeau is still a big question mark as far as knowing what kind of total points and what kind of production he can achieve. And finally, you still have MacKenzie Weegar. You still have Rasmus Andersson. Like you have good players there.
NHL News: Penguins, Sharks, Islanders, and Flyers
So you probably won't be bad enough that it's a scorched earth rebuild. But maybe it was a little bit of a tool, but how close does that get you to the playoffs? So I think in Calgary, they're going to go into training camp, they're going to start the regular season.
And the testing period for that team will be an ongoing thing and the success or lack of success will tell that team Huska and management and Craig Conroy, what is the best course of action going forward.
I think, for Huska, maybe he thinks what we really are and that remains to be seen as the season goes on. “
