Man Utd suffered two injuries in their pre-season defeat to Arsenal

Manchester United suffered two injuries in their pre-season friendly against Arsenal as Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro both had to be taken off in the 2-1 defeat.

The Danish striker fired the Red Devils into a first-half lead at the SoFi Stadium in California but strikes from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli ensured Erik ten Hag's side suffered a second defeat in their summer friendlies.

Hojlund and Yoro limped off in the first 45 minutes of the knock and the manager revealed that United will have to wait before feeling the brunt of the problems.

Speaking after the match, Ten Hag revealed: “He's really short [to know about their injuries] and we have to wait more than 24 hours, then hopefully we will know more.

“We were very careful about Leny [Yoro] as he did only 50 percent [training] sessions. He will have to come up but let's be positive and see what will come out.”

Veteran defender Jonny Evans added: “You don't want to get injured, especially in pre-season. It's one of the biggest things you try to avoid while being in good shape at the same time. We don't know how bad a muscle injury is, it's not that bad.

Injuries hampered United's 2023/24 campaign as they finished eighth in the Premier League, although they managed to salvage their season with an FA Cup final victory against Manchester City.

In more positive news, Harry Maguire played the first half before being withdrawn after missing out on Euro 2024, while Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount also got minutes.

A previously agreed penalty shoot-out took place at the end of the contest which allowed United to secure some form of victory, winning 4-3 at the penalty spot with goalkeeper Andre Onana making saves from Kai Havertz and Jakub Kiwior.

United will next face La Liga side Real Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium on Thursday morning.
