Spurs want to hear an “amazing” £86m

Heung-Min Son has been one of the best signings in Tottenham Hotspur's modern history, exceeding all expectations following his £22m move from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015.

The South Korean striker has cemented himself as a club legend, scoring 162 goals for the Lilywhites in 408 appearances in all competitions.

He formed a great partnership with Harry Kane during the Englishman's time in North London, when the pair combined for more goals than any other player in Premier League history – 47 times.

After Kane's move to Bayern Munich last summer, it left Son tasked with playing as a centre-forward, as opposed to his usual left-back role that has seen him thrive in recent years.

However, the addition of one more talent this summer could allow him to return to his preferred position, and form a formidable new partnership to lift Spurs to the Premier League in 2024/25.

Tottenham want £86m star this summer

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have taken action by registering their interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, but have faced competition from many other English clubs this summer.

Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with an interest, while local rivals Arsenal are said to have made the Swedish striker their first target in the transfer window.

All the interest is unsurprising given his goalscoring record, as the 26-year-old registered 29 goals and ten assists in his 33 Liga Portugal appearances last season – making him the division's top scorer with eight goals.

Everyone knows the goalscorer is worth his weight in gold in today's market, and Sporting are putting an £86m price tag on him to prize him away from the Portuguese club ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Although he will be an expensive addition to Ange Postecoglou's side, he will add to his squad's shortcomings, with the Swedes able to benefit from Son's impressive ability in the final third.

Why Son would be good for Gyokeres at Tottenham

There have been major changes at the club since Son's move to North London, including a new stadium, different managers, and a large number of players as the club look to push for a consistent place in the Premier League's top four.

Last season was one of his most impressive campaigns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, scoring 17 goals and registering 10 assists, 12 more than any other Spurs player last season.

However, his figures in the 90's will fall squarely in the hands of Gyokeres, with his goals no doubt helping Postecoglou's side boost their chances of securing a place in the Champions League.

Statistics with FBref

The South Korean player got 0.3 assists in 90 last season – putting him in 6% of all attackers in Europe – a number that would allow Gyokeres “amazing”, called by talent scout Jacek Kulig, to repeat his best goalscoring statistics. England's top flight.

Son also averaged 4.3 passes and 3.7 clearances – two of the last 90 saw him take the ball into the opposition penalty area, allowing him to create more opportunities for the 26-year-old Swede.

Care is considered continuous if the ball is moved towards a player's goal at least 10 yards from its starting point or into the penalty area.

Both players have shown their ability to score goals and contribute to their teammates in recent seasons, and the pair could prove to be successful should the Sporting Lisbon striker move to Spurs this summer.

He could provide the added goal threat Postecoglou has been looking for, while forming a partnership similar to that of Son and Kane, which could be crucial in the club's hunt to return to Champions League football.
