Charles Barkley Rethinks Retirement From Television: Report

Charles Barkley may have more time left on television after his recent comments about the NBA's media rights.

“My deal is 10 years, $210 million,” Barkley said in a phone interview with Athletic. “Turner must come to me immediately and he must assure me of everything I have or they will reduce my salary, which will not happen and I will be (a) free agent.

“My thing was, 'Wait, f-up, I didn't f-up, why should I take a pay cut?”

Chuck is in the third year of his contract no TNT.

The NBA recently announced new deals worth $77 billion over the next 11 years with ESPN and NBC and Amazon.

In doing so, the league denied the same rights to TNT Sports, therefore TNT Sports filed a lawsuit against the NBA in a reported attempt to take over the Amazon deal.

“I wouldn't want them to sue,” Barkley said. “It is clear that the NBA wanted to separate from us. I don't want to be in a relationship where I have to sue someone to be in them. That makes sense.

“If you have to sue someone to stay in a relationship, do you think that's a healthy relationship?”

Although Barkley hasn't fully retracted his retirement statements that he made on air during the NBA Finals, he has been talking to. ESPN, NBC again Amazon and open to offers if he doesn't get a full pay check TNT Sports.

“Right now, I'm planning to retire,” Barkley said. “I'm not trying to do anything. …“But from a compensation standpoint, I said, 'I'm going to sit back and see what you guys have going forward. I was loyal to all companies.”
