Golf Business News – DP World Tour unveils southern-based 'Opening Swing' for 2025 season

The DP World Tour has announced its 'Opening Swing' for the 2025 season, which includes five tournaments in the southern hemisphere.

The 2025 Race to Dubai will begin with The BMW Australian PGA Championship at the Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane from 21-24 November 2024, the first of two consecutive events sponsored in association with the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia.

It will be followed by ISPS Handa Australian Open taking place at Kingston Heath Golf Club and Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne from November 28 – December 1.

Departing Australia, the DP World Tour heads to South Africa for the return leg The Nedbank Golf Challenge Held at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City from December 5-8.

The Opening Swing then concludes with two back-to-back events sponsored in partnership with the Sunshine Tour: the The Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club, Malelane, from December 12-15; followed by i AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Mont Choisy Le Golf from December 19-22.

First introduced in 2024, the Opening Swing is the first of five Global Swings that make up Phase One of the DP World Tour's global schedule. Each Global Swing has its own identity and champion, and can be included in Rolex Series events and the second stage of the season – 'Back 9'- is also available. Players will then compete in 'Back 9' events to secure their spots in the end-of-season Play-offs on the DP World Tour.
