Arsenal have completed the signing of Daphne van Domselaar's shirt number

Arsenal are done to sign of Aston Villa goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old, who started his career at youth level with LSVV and Telstar, moved to Villa 12 months ago and made 15 appearances for the club.

But Van Domselaar has sold the Midlands and moved to north London, where he will replace Austrian goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger to start.

“I'm very happy to be here,” Van Domselaar said. “If you look at Arsenal – the players, the team, the stadium – it's a great club and I'm very happy to be part of this club. I want to win trophies and achieve great things, and Arsenal is the right place to do both.

“I can't wait to play at the Emirates Stadium in front of all the fans and show what I can do.”

Van Domselaar has been capped 27 times by the Netherlands since making her international debut in 2022, and represented her country at the 2022 Women's European Championship and the 2023 Women's World Cup.

“We are delighted to bring Daphne to the club,” Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall said of her arrival. “He is a top-class goalkeeper and has a lot of experience in some of the bigger divisions, while we believe he has a lot of potential to improve in the future.

“Daphne will also strengthen our goalkeeping team alongside Manu and Naomi, and will be a strong addition to the team as we prepare for an important new season.”

Director of Women's Football, Clare Wheatley, added: “Daphne is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world and we are delighted to confirm her arrival here at Arsenal. Her hunger for development and success is closely aligned with our ethos at the club and we are confident that she will be a great addition to our team.” .”

Van Domselaar will wear the number 14 shirt at Arsenal which was vacated by former goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo.
