Former 76er Roasts Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons rubbed a lot of people the wrong way during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, and that included former teammate Georges Niang.

Niang signed with the 76ers the same season Simmons debuted, and he had plenty to say when asked about the situation this week.

“I don't want to beat a dead horse, but the Ben Simmons thing, that pissed me off because guys are trying to make a living,” Niang said on the Road Trippin' podcast. “I signed less than the estimated amount. This [pairing with Simmons] he's going to be great at my job… Then he said, 'I'm not kidding' and I'm like, what the f*ck?… So I'm like, 'How am I going to go about making something happen?'

“Then he walked around the campus, you know, you can say, 'What's up, man?' Because it's like, 'Try to accept him again.' And you'll be like a *head*. That's when I was like, 'F*ck this dude'. Like, if I get a chance to play with this guy, I'm going to be a gangster.”

In the end, Simmons did not play another game for the 76ers, instead he was sent to the Brooklyn Nets along with Andre Drummond, Seth Curry, and the first two picks of the first round, in exchange for James Harden and Paul Millsap.

The Sixers, meanwhile, reached the second round of the playoffs in that 2021-22 season without Simmons, where they lost to the Miami Heat in six games.
