5 major transfers we expect to happen in August

We are now officially in the middle of the transfer window, and while Euro 2024 has taken most of our attention so far this summer, there is still a lot going on.

And there is still more to come.

From Victor Osimhen's inevitable departure from SSC Napoli, to Manchester United looking for another defender, here are the biggest transfers we expect to happen in August.

Of course Antonio Conte will sign Romelu Lukau.

That's right He is.

Conte's favorite player, and the player who fired his Inter side to their first Scudetto in 2021 under his tutelage, has been heavily linked with a move to new boss SSC Napoli this summer.

Considering the fact that Napoli need a replacement for Victor Osimhen (more on him later) and Lukaku's impressive goalscoring record in Serie A – 70 goals in 129 games – this deal would make a lot of sense.

Federico Chiesa was once one of the best strikers in world football.

That was before the nasty knee injury that finally took its toll a few years ago. Injuries have proved to be such a concern for Juventus that they are willing to let the player leave for around €20 million this summer.

And despite his injury problems, 20 million euros for Chiesa still sounds like a good deal, doesn't it?

The wide forward has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea and Arsenal among the top suitors.

Given Arsenal's need for quality cover for Bukayo Saka, it would make sense for the Gunners to go out and sign Chiesa.

After Leny Yoro was sidelined just two friendlies into his Manchester United career, it is clear that the club need to sign another defender this summer.

And that defender could, and should, be Matthijs de Ligt.

The Dutchman played some of the best football of his career under current United boss Erik ten Hag while at Ajax, and could recapture that form under his guidance at Old Trafford.

Now officially a free agent after his Juventus contract expired at the end of June, Adrien Rabiot has reportedly had a number of suitors in recent weeks.

Real Madrid, Liverpool, AC Milan and Chelsea have all been linked with the midfielder, but, at the moment, it seems that Manchester United is the most likely destination for Rabiot.

Will it be a good signing? Considering his form over the last six months, maybe not.

Victor Osimhen's departure from Napoli was talked about last year and, thank God, it looks like we can finally stop talking about it soon.

With Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain all interested in the Nigerian star, it remains to be seen where he will end up, but we are backing the latter to win the race.

The Ligue 1 champions have both the money and the need – to replace Kylian Mbappe – to sign Osimhen before the transfer window. closes August 30.
