Chelsea are now the preferred option for the 17-goal star who is likely to leave
Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, is expected to leave the club this summer and the Nigerian player is expected to move to the Premier League.
According to journalist Giovanni Scotto, the player would like to join Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Scott said via CalcioNapoli24: “As of today, there are no vacancies for Osimhen to stay at Napoli. The goal is to solve the problem in the first game of the tournament. In any case, the Nigerian will not be used, even in the Coppa Italia. Obviously, anything is possible but for now Osimhen remains on the way out: his favorites include PSG and Chelsea, while Saudi Arabia is currently an option. In any case, he will be the striker of choice for the next team.”
The 25-year-old has proven himself in Italian football and will be looking to take on a new challenge at this stage of his career. A move to Chelsea can be an exciting opportunity. He would get to test himself in English football and play for the big team.
Despite having mediocre seasons in the last two campaigns, Chelsea are one of the biggest teams in the world and the opportunity to play for them would be hard to turn down for many players.
Chelsea are in dire need of a top scorer and the Napoli striker could solve their problems. He scored 17 goals in all competitions last season and helped Napoli win the league title in the 2022/23 season as well.
Chelsea need a top striker
Chelsea will need someone like him if they are serious about challenging for major trophies. They relied heavily on Cole Palmer for goals last season. The Englishman needs more support in attack.
Osimhen has the physical and technical attributes to succeed in English football and could be a key player for Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether the Blues can do a deal. They won't be able to give him Champions League football next season and that would be a big problem. On the other hand, PSG have the funds to close the transfer and will be able to give him Champions League action.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up in the end.
