Jabeur, 29, would face the local favourite Robin Montgomery in his opening round singles match on Thursday night. However, Jabuer withdrew hours before the game due to a shoulder injury. Jabeur released a statement that was also posted on the competition's social media.
“I am writing to inform you that, unfortunately, I have to withdraw from the Mubadala Citi DC Open due to a recent shoulder injury.
After consulting with my doctor, it was decided that participation would make my condition worse.

Jabeur defeated Montgomery 6-1, 7-5 last month in the second round of Wimbledon. A two-time Wimbledon winner, Jabeur lost in the next round to the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
Jabeur, earlier in the week at the event, won the doubles match against Spain Paula Badosa.
It has been a difficult season for the 29-year-old Tunisian. He has dealt with a knee injury, and has an overall record of 16-13. He is currently ranked 16th, his lowest position since the summer of 2021.
The next tournament on Jabeur's schedule is the upcoming WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Toronto, Canada.
