Terence Crawford's TRAINER, Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre, is overconfident, saying Bud can “dust” Israil Madrimov on Saturday in their 12-round contest at BMO Stadium, Los Angeles. BoMac predicts that Crawford will win and remain at the top of the pound-for-pound rankings.
Crawford is fighting a guy as strong as GGG, and worse, he's facing him after a long layoff. This act inspires overconfidence in Crawford, who is drunk on his past success and feels he can't beat anyone now.

Crawford has a lot of pressure on him in this fight because he has to make it fun. A lot of fans will be watching the DAZN PPV, and he should impress Canelo Alvarez enough to want to fight him.
Inactivity Breeds Uncertainty
“We feel good. Terence is ready, and the team is ready. We are delighted to have reached this point to show the world that we continue to be pound for pound the best in the world. “Come Saturday, you'll see,” said trainer Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre to Pro Boxing fans about Terence Crawford's clash with Israel Madrimov.
Coach BoMac says Crawford is ready, but we don't know that. He's been kicking back, and on Saturday night, he's facing a deadly puncher with the power of GGG. We don't know how Crawford will react if the 170+ lb Madrimov starts shooting his shots at him.
For a fighter who started his career at 135 and has never won a middle-of-the-road fight at 147 against older players, you don't like seeing Crawford take on a young artist like Madrimov in his first fight at. 154.
“We'll see. We won't know until we get in there. It might look good on paper, but he might shut him down when it comes to the fight, or it could be tough,” BoMac said when asked if Madrimov is the toughest fight of Crawford's 16-year career.
As you can see, BoMac is used to having Crawford fight a lot of smaller guys at 135, 140, and 147, and he thinks Madrimov will be another easy opponent for him. Madrimov is not a fighter in his mid-30s; you are heavy and tired from traffic and idleness.
Spence's praise of Crawford
“That's great. I'm glad you're supporting Terence. That will show you there are good fighters who believe in Terence,” said BoMac, reacting to Errol Spence predicting a Crawford victory in a possible 2025 fight with Canelo Alvarez.
Spence has been showering Crawford with compliments lately, and some see this as a sign that he's deliberately trying to endear himself to her in order to get a rematch. That's the biggest payday for Spence, and he knows it.
If Spence is willing to believe that Crawford can beat Canelo, it doesn't matter because he probably won't get the fight. It's just a little different at this point, he's talking about Canelo because he already said he's not interested in fighting Crawford.
“We're going to get that win,” BoMac said, predicting Crawford to beat Madrimov on Saturday.
“He is the current WBA 154-lb champion, Israel Madrimov. “He's had a great rookie career, and now he's moving up the ranks,” said analyst Ade Oladipo on DAZN Boxing, talking about Crawford's opponent on Saturday night.
“It won't be difficult for him this Saturday when we play Terence Crawford, but he is ready,” continued Ade.
Crawford Must Have Fun
It will be interesting to see what kind of approach Crawford takes in this fight against Madrimov. Will he come to fight or punch, fighting smoothly for twelve rounds? Will the ringside fans, who pay big bucks to watch the event, be happy if Crawford walks around the ring all night, or will they boo him?
This is Los Angeles, and fans want to be entertained in this city. The undercard, featuring exciting acts like Isaac Cruz, Jose 'Rayo' Valenzuela, and David Morrell, will set the stage for the main event between Crawford and Madrimov.
I hope Crawford knows this because if he goes out using his Shakur-esque style, like he has done in the past, he could be kicked out of BMO Stadium. Furthermore, if Canelo Alvarez watches that performance at home, he will mentally cross him off his list as a potential opponent in 2025.
“I asked him [Crawford] yesterday, 'Is this bigger than Errol?' Obviously, Errol was the fight we've been waiting for for the past decade. He said it's because it brings a lot of eyeballs. He [Crawford] he pointed out that Errol was a warrior of the urban community. It was one they wanted, and this one is a little different.”
So far, BMO Stadium is not sold out Saturday, and it's unclear if the event will bring in more than 1M PPV buys like the Spence-Crawford one.
“He was not throwing shade at Errol Spence. He brings light to the situation,” said boxing expert Shawn Porter about Crawford's comments. “This is the biggest situation he faces in boxing, whether amateur or pro. It doesn't get any worse than this.”
There was a lot of interest in Crawford's last fight against Errol Spence last year because the US public had been clamoring for the fight since Terence moved up to 147 in 2018. The public had not wanted Crawford to fight Madrimov.
Ignoring Society
They had been wanting Crawford to face the talented welterweight Jaron 'Boots' Ennis, but he had no interest in doing so.
Crawford avoided Boots like the plague and deliberately picked Madrimov, even though it's a small fight. It's easy to see the duck moving forward with Crawford, who may not want to risk a big payday against Canelo Alvarez next year.
Taking a small fight against Madrimov over a big one against Ennis is a sign of fear and avoidance. That's right. Everyone knows their limitations.
Madrimov is not as well known as Spence, so there is obviously less interest in this fight involving Crawford than last year. It's still a good fight, but it's not compelling to casual boxing fans, who have no idea who Madrimov is other than a guy who looks like Gennadiy Golovkin and does a lot of things in the back of the ring.
Crawford's regular periods of inactivity and his victories over his most ridiculous opponents over the last decade make it hard to get credit for him.
Casual fans who don't follow the game will be impressed with Crawford's resume. Boxing experts like myself know that Crawford has been working on his record for over a decade and hasn't fought live since his 2014 win over Yuriorkis Gamboa.
