Former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama of Japan jumped into the lead at the start of the 2024 Olympic Golf men's event with eight players under 63.
That gives Matsuyama, who lost a playoff to a bronze medalist at the Tokyo Games, two shots to advance to Round 2. But the second-place finisher defends gold medalist Xander Schauffele.
Matsuyama plays in Friday's second round at Le Golf National at 5:44 am ET alongside Wyndham Clark and Tommy Fleetwood.
You can watch Friday's second round of the men's Olympic Golf event on Golf Channel beginning at 3 a.m. ET. Peacock will provide live streaming of Golf Channel's Friday online broadcast.
