For the first time in 24 years, the United States advanced to the playoffs in men's soccer at the Olympics, where they will face the winners of Group B, Morocco.
The United States may have gotten off to a slow start to their 2024 Paris Olympic Games campaign after losing 0-3 to France, but the Stars and Stripes bounced back from their last two games to finish second in Group A. By reaching the quarter-finals, the USA it already reached the second best place in the Olympics.
In contrast, Morocco's tournament got off to a good start as the Atlas Lions defeated Argentina, one of the favorites to win the gold. They then stumbled against Ukraine, but ended the group stage with a decisive 3-0 victory over Iraq, to top Group B. Morocco have been one of the biggest surprises in the tournament so far, and Tarik Sektioui will have his entire team in the quarter-finals against the USA. Soufiane Rahimi already has four goals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the striker will once again be a major threat in the Atlas Lions' final third. Achraf Hakimi, on the other hand, will look to continue to lead Morocco's backline and contribute in attack.

The only injury concern for the United States ahead of the quarter-finals is Gianluca Busio. The midfielder was forced off in the first half against New Zealand after re-injuring his hamstring. The 22-year-old did not play in the final group stage match in the USA against Guinea, but he expects to be back in the first round on Friday if he is fit.

The United States looked good in their last two games against New Zealand and Guinea, but Morocco faces a much bigger challenge. In fact, the Stars and Stripes' efforts will probably not be enough to overcome the Atlas Lions, who have produced the most damage in the tournament so far with their victory over Argentina.
Morocco's defense has only kept one clean sheet at the 2024 Olympics, so expect the USA to score.
