Going into the Olympics, American star and defending gold medalist Xander Schauffele was one of the favorites, thanks to his two major victories this season and his World No. And he looked like the favorite on Thursday.
Schauffele shot a six-under 65 in the opening round at Le Golf National to get two shots off Hideki Matsuyama's early lead and set himself up for a run at back-to-back gold medals.
