Inter Miami predicted to face Tigres UNAL: Le League Cup 2024
Inter Miami returns to action this weekend to face Liga MX giants Tigres UANL in the League Cup.
The Herons will face the Tigres at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, without the legendary Lionel Messi as the striker is still recovering from a serious ankle injury sustained in the Copa America final. Even without Messi in the side, Miami managed to pick up the last three points in the League Cup opener at home against Puebla.
The Inter Miami vs Tigres UANL match starts at 8 pm ET and is available on the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
However, the Herons will now face a new challenge in Tigres as the Mexican club is one of the best sides in all of North America. However, the game may not live up to expectations as Miami and Tigres have collected three points each while Puebla have already been shown the door with zero points from two matches.
With both teams in the knockout stages, Gerardo 'Tata' Martino may give other youngsters playing time, or he may be determined to finish top of the group in order to progress.
Here's how Miami would take the pitch vs Tigres.
GK: Drake Callender – The experienced shot stopper returns to the XI after an uninspiring performance from CJ dos Santos against Puebla.
RB: Marcelo Weigandt – 'Chelo' Weigandt keeps his place at right back with Ian Fray hoping to get some minutes late in the game.
CB: Tomas Aviles – The young defender has been restored to the heart of the defense after missing Puebla with a knock.
CB: Hector Martinez – Martinez will make his second appearance in Miami, allowing Sergio Busquets to return to his preferred position in the middle of the park.
LB: Jordi Alba – The former Spain international will be hoping to get some assists as he did against Puebla for Miami to win on Saturday night.
CM: Federico Redondo – Redondo struggled against Puebla and will look to do even better against Tigres to keep his place in the team in the Round of 32.
CM: Sergio Busquets – The ex-Barcelona guard patrols the midfield and after a while comes from behind.
CM: Matias Rojas – The Paraguayan opened the scoring against Puebla with a thunderous strike and will look to do the same against Tigres.
RW: Julian Gressel – Gressel has been in good form since he has been playing outside as he is able to rally his teammates to create scoring opportunities with his favored right foot.
ST: Luis Suarez – El Pistolero leads the streak for the second straight game, aiming to get on the score sheet again.
LW: Robert Taylor – Taylor has been a key player in Miami's success over the past year or so, and Martino will look to rely on the 29-year-old winger to stretch the Tigres' defense.
