Aston Villa have reportedly reached a definitive agreement to sign Unai Emery's new £325,000-a-week striker.

It has been a very productive transfer window for NSWE and Monchi, with eight new players already signed, sealed and brought to Villa Park.

A lot can still happen before the deadline at the end of the month, and it seems that new rival star striker Ollie Watkins is interested.

This is because the future of Jhon Duran has been a hot topic in recent weeks, with the Colombian wanted by West Ham and in the Saudi Pro League. Duran was even spotted doing the Irons sign on social media, but as of right now, a move to the London Stadium is still a possibility.

Should Duran leave, the likes of Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier and Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix have been linked with a move to the Midlands, with the latter also hailed as Emery's “dream”.

However, a brand new name has emerged, and Villa are said to have made significant progress in securing their services.

Aston Villa are closing in on a deal for Romelu Lukaku

According to reports in Italy, relayed by Sports Witness, Aston Villa have reached an agreement over the signing of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian, who earns £325,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, is currently training on his own as he does not appear to be in Enzo Maresca's plans.

A price has not been mentioned on the renewal, however, and Villa may find it difficult to try and persuade Lukaku to join, with the striker keen on a return to Italy, this time at Napoli with former Blues boss Antonio Conte. Napoli and Conte also want to do a deal for Lukaku, but their situation with Victor Osimhen prevents any deal for now.

The pair worked together at Inter Milan, with Lukaku praising Conte in 2019, saying: “My relationship with Conte is very strong, as he is a coach who helps me a lot. I'm 26 years old, I'm looking for a coach like this, who helps me every day and inspires me. I am very happy to be here and to work with him. This game is very important for us, but we have another tough game against Lazio. We are happy with the three points.”

Villa could come in between Conte and Lukaku's reunion, making this a potential transfer to keep an eye on.
