Inter Miami will hope to secure their place in the League Cup Round of 32 when they face Liga MX side Tigres UANL on Saturday night at NRG Stadium.
Tigres have enjoyed a flying start to the 2024 Liga MX Apertura season, winning three games and drawing once to sit third in the table behind Pumas UNAM and Cruz Azul. Tigres have yet to start their League Cup campaign but will kick things off on Wednesday night against Puebla, who beat Miami 2-0 at the weekend in the East Group 3 match.
Miami defeated Puebla last weekend to begin their defense of the League Cup title with a 2-0 win at home in front of their fans. Matias Rojas and Luis Suarez were on the scoresheet again as the Herons picked up three points without star Lionel Messi in the side, who is still injured with an ankle injury in the Copa America final.

Tigres' David Ayala is the only player unavailable for selection as the 24-year-old is recovering from a broken knee in January 2023.
Tigres UANL predicted schedule against Inter Miami (4-2-3-1): Tapia; Aquino, Pizarro, Angulo, Garza; Gorriaran; Flores, Brunetta, Cordova; Gignac.
Miami's number 10 Messi is still on the treatment table recovering from an ankle problem, and the veteran star is expected to miss most, if not all, of the League Cup. Defender Serhiy Kryvtsov is also sidelined with a knee injury and is expected to return to action in early September.
Both Diego Gomez and Benjamin Cremaschi are competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics with their Paraguay and USA teams and will miss the next few games for the Herons.
Inter Miami predicted to face Tigres UANL ( 4-3-3): Applicant; Weigandt, Aviles, Martinez, Alba; Redondo, Busquets, Rojas; Gressel, Suarez, Taylor.
Since Miami actually has one foot in the door of the Round of 32 after their win over Puebla, they can take their foot out a little knowing that Tigres will beat Puebla midweek. Since the top two teams will advance to East Group 3, that means Miami and Tigres could both advance to the playoffs.
Tigres has a stronger team than Miami, and it will be the final at NRG Stadium with the Liga MX giants coming out on top.
