Bayern Munich made a decision on Man Utd's partnership with Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui

Bayern Munich have rejected two bids from Manchester United for defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, according to several reports.

The Red Devils are always in the market for defensive reinforcements and have long identified the Bayern duo as solutions to their current woes.

Personal terms have already been agreed with defender De Ligt and right-back Mazraoui. With both players represented by the same agent, Rafaela Pimenta, United made a joint bid to Bayern in recent days.

However, various reports claim that Bayern have rejected this approach, although the two clubs are still negotiating two deals.

I The Daily Telegraph write that Pimenta and his clients have been left 'surprised' by Bayern's decision as they believe United's bid was accepted, and are investigating whether the Bundesliga side have unduly changed their stance – the club promised De Ligt and Mazroai they would help out in the summer if suitable offers came in.

United went into the window hoping to bring in two full-backs, and after new signing Leny Yoro was ruled out for three months with a foot injury, that aim has become bolder. Meanwhile, Mazraoui's arrival also depends on whether they can sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is in talks to move to West Ham United.

While United are expected to make further bids – whether to reunite or split – they are not expected to pay for De Ligt or Mazraoui.

Bayern have added two full-backs to their ranks already this summer. Eric Dier joined on a permanent transfer following a successful loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur, while Hiroki Ito from Stuttgart moved to Bavaria in June. They also beat a number of teams in England, including United, until Michael Olise was signed.
