Crawford Confronts Ennis At Weigh-In: “I Thought You Won't Watch It?”

Terence Crawford met Jaron 'Boots' Ennis at the weigh-in for his fight with Israel Madrimov.

Crawford approached Ennis and said, “I thought you weren't going to watch?” The boots crossed his arms as Crawford approached him, which could be interpreted as a defensive move in case Terence wanted to throw a punch.

Heir Apparent

I can't blame Boots for crossing his arms in case Crawford wants to pat himself on the back for being his heir. The way he went up to Buthin, you just don't know what was going through his head. For all we know, Crawford may have gotten ideas into his head to get an early lead against Ennis before they signed off on the fight.

Ennis is coming off a fifth-round victory over former Crawford opponent David Avanesyan on July 13. Boots knocked Avaneysan out faster than Crawford two years ago with his sixth-round TKO win.

'Boots' Ennis has been calling Crawford for a long time, and he wants to fight him to take the torch and become the next star. However, Crawford has no intention of helping the young lion out and wants a big match against Canelo Alvarez at 168 next year.

If Crawford was following this news, promoter Eddie Hearn would have revealed that he will be there for the fight, and he wants Terence to face him next if he can't get a match against Canelo Alvarez. Hearn wants Crawford to fight Boots next because he feels his fighter will beat him, and he sees that as the perfect stepping stone for a young talent to become a big star.

Ennis Explains His Presence

“I came here to support my partner, Andy Cruz, I saw him play a show, I was invited. So, I couldn't say no,” Boot Ennis told DAZN's Emily Austin about why he came to tonight's Riyadh Season weigh-in.

2020 Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz (3-0, 1 KO) takes on Antonio Moran in a lightweight bout on Saturday's undercard, live on DAZN PPV at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
