Eddie Howe broke his silence after Alexander Isak's injury concern

Eddie Howe has given an update on Alexander Isak's fitness after the Swedish striker was forced off during his side's pre-season friendly.

With the new Premier League season just around the corner, English teams are in the middle of their pre-season preparations as they prepare for another tough campaign.

Howe will be well aware of how difficult a full season can be after seeing a number of key players drop out of his squad last season following serious injuries.

Unfortunately for the England manager, he has another injury scare during the Magpies' pre-season clash with Yokohama F. Marinos on Saturday during their pre-season tour.

The main striker Isak was forced to come out of the break after a collision with the goalkeeper of the opposing team and apparently injured his shoulder.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat, the England coach revealed that his substitution was planned and he is good to play the rest of the game.

“No, that was planned for him. Just go over the shoulder at the beginning of the game, it was painful but he can't continue.” He said about Shields newspaper.

“We don't think there are any problems that we are thinking about, but we have to look at how he works and how his shoulder is, but I think he looks good.”

Newcastle will kick off their Premier League season against newly promoted Southampton on Saturday 17th August.
