Player ratings as the Herons fell behind to finish second in East Group 3

Goals from Juan Brunetta and Juan Pablo Vigon gave Liga MX giants Tigres UANL a 2-1 victory over Inter Miami in the League Cup group stage match at NRG Stadium.

How the game happened

Miami started on the front foot, firing on Nahuel Guzman's goal — but the veteran shooter comfortably kept out the Herons' efforts. Tigres then broke the deadlock 18 minutes into the first half through midfielder Juan Brunetta.

Substitute Juan Pablo Vigon found himself with plenty of space inside the Herons' penalty area after a clearance by Serhiy Kryvtsov, and the 33-year-old midfielder took a touch before firing a shot off the crossbar to put Tigres ahead 2. -1.

The win meant Tigres topped East Group 3 with six points after wins over Miami and Puebla while Miami had already qualified for the League Cup knockout stages ahead of the game, but the loss dropped them to second place in the group.

GK: Drake Callender – 6/10 – Not the best spot for Brunetta's best strike. He couldn't do much for Vigon's winning goal.

RB: Marcelo Weigandt – 6/10 – Shows strong link play on the right with Campana and Gressel.

CB: Tomas Aviles – 7/10 – Solid apart from his poor effort past Rojas which led to the opener.

CB: Hector Martinez – 7/10 – He stood and defended bravely by Aviles' side.

LB: Jordi Alba – 6/10 – The defender hit a superb shot from outside the box that should have reached the net before it was blocked by a Tigres player.

CM: Matias Rojas – 6/10 – The Paraguayan player did not appear often in front of the goals but he played a role in connecting the defenders with the forwards.

CM: Yannick Bright – 7/10 – The entire game was highlighted in the center of the field by Busquets, given the spirit that was on the bench to start the game.

CM: Federico Redondo – 7/10 – An improved performance from the young midfielder after struggling last time out against Puebla.

RW: Julian Gressel – 6/10 – Gave Campana a good chance early on but didn't do much other than that.

ST: Leo Campana – 8/10 – He got off to a strong start to the season and really came to life in the second half as he pulled over his penalty attempt to level the scores. Campana helped start the attack but was often brought down by his teammates in the final third.

LW: Robert Taylor – 6/10 – It was a quiet first half from the Finnish international who also couldn't do much in the second 45.
