Thomas Frank says he will be “over the moon” if Toney stays at Brentford
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has said he will be “over the moon” if striker Ivan Toney stays at the club this summer.
Toney, who has a year left on his contract with the Bees, is being targeted by players such as Tottenham and Manchester United who have expressed interest although nothing has happened yet.
The 28-year-old was part of the England squad that reached the finals of Euro 2024, and was involved for the Three Lions as he set up Harry Kane's winner in the last 16 against Slovakia and scored a penalty in the win over Switzerland.
Frank would be happy if Toney stayed
Toney has spoken of his desire to join a top club, but so far no offers have been made for the Englishman, who is said to be worth more than £50m.
The striker returned from an eight-month ban in January but managed just four goals in 17 games in the second half of the season.
It would appear to be in Brentford's interest to sell Toney this summer as they are at risk of him leaving for free at the end of next season.
Frank was talking about the striker and said he would be “over the moon” if the Englishman stayed at the club.
“My focus is that Ivan is a Brentford player, I'm very happy to be here and if Ivan is here at the start of the season, I'll be over the moon,” Frank told Sky Sports News.
“I have said before that we are a selling team but what I know is that Ivan is our player.”
Despite struggling last season Toney is a proven value in the Premier League with only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland having scored more than his 20 goals in the 2022/2023 campaign.
The longer the window goes on the more likely it is that the club will get a big deal for Toney, but surprisingly no suitors have come forward to make serious moves, although that could change as both the season and the season end. the window is approaching.
