PSG 'close' deal to sign Liverpool defender
Paris Saint-Germain are close to beating Liverpool to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho, reports have revealed.
The Reds are yet to make any signings this summer but are determined to be strong at the back, too 90 min understands that 22-year-old Pacho has been identified as a possible target as new coach Arne Slot looks to strengthen his defence.
However, it was first revealed by Florian Plettenberg that PSG opened negotiations regarding the agreement to sign Pacho, who quickly made it clear that he was interested in this.
Fabrizio Romano added shortly after a verbal agreement was struck for a transfer fee worth more than €40m (£34.3m), personal terms between Pacho and the Ligue 1 giants were also dismissed.
There are still some final details to be sorted out but Pacho is expected to head to Paris soon to complete his move to the Parc des Princes.
Centre-back is Liverpool's most important position during the summer transfer window after the departure of Joel Matip earlier this summer.
Reports have named Bayer Leverkusen's Piero Hincapie as a target though 90 min you understand that such claims are broader than the mark as such. Chelsea's Levi Colwill has a strong following but the Blues have warned all suitors that the 21-year-old is off target and Liverpool have not stepped up their interest as a result.
Liverpool are hoping to recruit a new player this summer and will move to sign a new midfielder if Wataru Endo leaves the club.
