Why this expert is Sepp Straka's good luck charm
Sepp Straka has been around for the past three seasons on the PGA Tour, posting two wins: the 2022 Honda Classic and the 2023 John Deere Classic.
Even though Straka has yet to win in 2024, he may still have his most lucrative season to date. He has 10 top-25 finishes, and, with more than $4.2 million in earnings, he is currently 18th in the FedEx Cup standings, and the Playoffs are just around the corner.
On this week's episode of Subpar, Straka joined hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz to discuss several topics, including how his family moved from Austria to Georgia when he was young, his Ryder Cup experience and what it was like and calling golf. on CBS. But one of the highlights of Straka's sit-down was when he explained why one expert has become a good luck charm.
“JT Poston,” Straka began. “We were joking – I played with him last week, Thursday, Friday, I put in a hole-in-one. And I had three holes in the last 14 months, and he was there for all of them.”
Straka said only one of those aces happened on the competitive circuit, the most recent being the US Open. The other two were at Augusta – one during the Par 3 Championship, and the other on Augusta's 12th hole during practice.
He said: “That is definitely my best.
Lesson: The next time you see these two players together, look at those stage 3!
