Hot Exchange In Canelo Vs. Berlanga at the Los Angeles Press Conference

Canelo Alvarez and challenger Edgar Berlanga held a press conference in Los Angeles today to promote their September 14th fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) angered WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Canelo (61-2-2, 39 KOs) by telling him to “shut up” and not interrupt him when he was talking.

The press conference broke up when Berlanga started swearing in Spanish. It was no longer discipline at that point, and it ended what had been a fun press conference. It was so bad that Berlanga couldn't control himself because he messed things up.

Canelo's Warning: Honor the Payday

Canelo then told Berlanga that he will not shut up and if he hurts him in their press conference, he will not get the money that will change his life on September 14.

In fact, Canelo was telling Berlanga not to overstep his bounds because the payday he blessed him with could vanish instantly. Berlanga was talking nonsense throughout the press conference, talking about Canelo taking his own life and going crazy.

Canelo's good mood first evaporated when he responded to Berlanga's nonsense in a press conference. He was all over the place, talking about his IQ, and Canelo found that funny.

Berlanga is a basic brawler, and is not known for his boxing skills. Hearing him talk about his boxing IQ was weird because that is the weakest part of his game.

Berlanga needs to keep the upcoming press conferences clean and focus more on his war plans. They have to promote this fight and they can't rely on the boxers, Caleb Plant and Trevor McCumby, to do all the hard work so that boxing fans can enjoy ordering the event on PBC on Prime Video and DAZN PPV.

The fans have seen the fight between Canelo and Berlanga as something unfair, that's why Berlanga has to convince them that he has a chance by talking about this fight in English. This is likely to be Berlanga's only highly regarded opportunity, so he needs to sell himself.

Edgar Berlanga: “As for the compassion, I already knew he wouldn't have it from the beginning. It's going to be fire on September 14. Get your PPVs. I am the type of fighter who comes to fight. I will not run. I will stand and fight.

“I want to thank Team Canelo for giving me this opportunity. It is the opportunity of a lifetime to be in his shoes. He was in my shoes before climbing the ranks. Now it's time for me to get my feet wet, shine in boxing, and become a legend.

“It's a gladiator game. You are coming to try to take my life, and I must do the same. This is a do-or-die game. You can literally die in that ring. We have to take it to the next level and treat it like a real gladiator game. “

Canelo Alvarez: “I will not give him sympathy. You need 20 to give me problems. I will change his life with that money.”

Berlanga: “I'm Puerto Rican. He is from Mexico. You know how it goes.”

Canelo: “You won't do anything. You're just going to make me laugh.”

Berlanga: “When I speak, keep quiet.”

Canelo: “I don't want to shut up.” What will you do? I don't want to [mess] wake up now because your money is gone. Don't worry.”

Berlanga: “I will take your place.”

Canelo: “Is your money gone?”

Berlanga: “Puerto Rico.”

Canelo: “If I [mess you] now, your money is gone. Do you think I fear you? You are nothing.
