Canelo Alvarez responded to the Honorable Turki Alalshikh's critical post today with a crying emoji, showing his indifference to his views. Indeed, Alvarez doesn't seem bothered by Turki's comments because he needs him and not the other way around.

Turki's Speech and Allegations
Turki had lectured Canelo (61-1-2, 39 KOs) in his book X, responding by saying, “I don't like the way he talks…If he wants to work with me, it's my way, no. in their own way.”
In Alalshikh's letter this morning, he stated that Canelo is afraid to fight Crawford and is “wasting our time” by asking for “a lot of money.”
Canelo revealed that Turki sent him a message this week, asking him to discuss the fight with Terence Crawford next February. However, Canelo told him that he does not want to talk about this fight because he is focused on his September 14 title defense against Edgar Berlanga.
It is not clear if Canelo and Turki can talk later about fighting Crawford or if the Saudis have thrown in the towel on trying to make the match because of the money that Alvarez may want.

Canelo's Disinterest in Failure
Turki can't understand why Canelo doesn't seem happy about fighting Crawford, and the reasons are obvious. It's a no-win fight for Canelo where he won't get credit.
As Canelo said, he is willing to fight Crawford but for the right price. That price would be too high for Turki, however, to talk about Canelo wanting “a lot of money.”
There was no word on how much Canelo wanted to defend his WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles against Crawford, but it must have been big enough for Turki to comment on him as wanting “big money.”
No matter what Canelo asks, Crawford wants the same money, making the fight too expensive even for the Saudis to want to pay for it.
Canelo is already very rich, and he's not one to worry about losing a big pay day against Crawford. It's not a big deal for Canelo because he gets $40 million for each title defense against Edgar Berlanga, Jaime Munguia, and John Ryder.
Crawford, 36, probably isn't too happy about Turki pulling out of the Canelo fight so soon because that's his best chance for a big payday, and he says he wants that “historic” match.
If not, Crawford's options are less attractive, and some are dangerous. Crawford did not win his fight last Saturday night against Israel Madrimov at the age of 154, which may indicate that he has aged.
