Home hero Bland is determined to continue his excellent form in the International Series England – Golf News

LIV Golf League star Richard Bland admits his 'belief' is at an all-time high heading into England's International Series at Foxhills Club & Resort, as he looks to continue an impressive season that has brought him back-to-back major titles.

The Cleeks GC player cruised to victory at the Senior PGA Championship back in May and followed that up the next month with a nail-biting surprise victory at the US Senior Open.

The 51-year-old also looks set to secure his place in the Lock Zone, the star-studded top 24 of the LIV Golf League, thanks to several strong performances this season. And he hopes to continue that form in the fourth event in The International Series this season at the Longcross course in Surrey.

NEW CONFIDENCE

Bland, who has flourished since taking the British Masters title in 2021 for his 478.th started aged 48, he said: “When you get that win, you know 'yes, I can do this'. It doesn't mean you're going to get cocky or arrogant about it or anything like that, you just have that inner belief, when the chips are down.

“It's kind of a good feeling. Brooks Koepka (Smash GC captain and five-time major winner), probably feels 10 times more than I do. He must think that he is immune to bullets. It's good to have that confidence and belief in yourself, to know 'yes I can do this'.

Bland, who lives just 15 minutes from the class in Surrey, leaves at 11:50 along with RangeGoats GC player Thomas Pieters and Smash GC's Jason Kokrak.

FINDING THE LIV SPOT

He is impressed with the organization of the International Series, and believes that the top Asian Tour-sanctioned events, help to produce high-quality players such as Andy Ogletree, the American who won the ranking last season and earned a place in Phil. Mickelson's HyFlyers GC.

He said: “It's very good, it's good that you got some LIV players to strengthen the fields, it's a real opportunity for the boys playing on the Asian Tour.

“I've played on the Asian Tour for 25 years now, and it's always a great place to go. I love food, I love different cultures, different subjects, the grass they get to play. It's a great opportunity to be able to play on one of the best tours in the world. It's a real golden ticket.

“You see with Andy Ogletree, he won last year, and he's been playing well lately at LIV. It takes a little time to find your feet in LIV but he seems to be doing that now. I've played with him a few times and he's a hell of a player. The Asian Tour is going from strength to strength and it's great to see.”
