LA Galaxy have signed the Bundesliga legend until 2025
LA Galaxy have reportedly signed former Borussia Dortmund player Marco Reus to a contract until December 2025 with an option to extend, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Bundesliga legend was out of contract following Dortmund's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid this summer. Reports indicated that this player is ready to run in Major League Soccer after being linked with St. Louis CITY SC and Charlotte FC.
The LA Galaxy reached an agreement with Charlotte FC for his acquisition rights before signing him.
The report states that Reus plans to travel to the United States in the coming days to undergo tests and sign his new contract.
As has been the case this summer with the potential transfer of Reus, the Galaxy do not have an open Designated Player slot on the roster. Gabriel Pec, Riqui Puig and Joseph Paintsil already hold those three spots.
Contract details were not disclosed, but Reus will make an estimated $1.7 million this year as an undrafted free agent.
Adding Reus to the team's already potent attack makes the LA Galaxy one of the clear favorites to top the MLS Western Conference. Reus scored nine goals in a total of 42 games last season as Dortmund fell short of European glory.
The Galaxy currently lead the Western Conference with 49 points, but have played two games more than city rival LAFC who trail the Gs with 47. With LAFC bolstering their attack with the signing of Olivier Giroud and targeting Antoine Griezmann, El Trafico has recently become more than that. happy September 14th.
Before that, the Galaxy will face the Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup 2024 round of 32. The team returns to MLS action on Aug. 24 against Atlanta United.
