This is a small picture from the world of streaming videos.
In the clip below you will see a player coming in from across the street that appears to be outside the course.
The question is, should the gun stop? Would you let your friend or gaming partner download this?
It is generally accepted that the origins of golf can be traced back to a time when Scotsmen would put things down and hit them with clubs until they reached a predetermined distance.
These early golfers also developed a method to determine who would win the game.
The winner was the person who needed a few hits to get their item to their desired destination.
You may think that not everything is flexible, but imagine that some sports – tennis is the best example – manage their scoring systems!
The landscape between their starting point and their goal, as well as the necessary direction, the diversity of the flight of objects and the various conditions and obstacles they encountered along the way.
If even a small part of the ball is played, the ball is NOT out of bounds (Rule 18.2a).
This is good news although you should always remember, the Laws of Golf are clear about how to determine whether a ball close to the course boundaries is in or out. For example, if out of bounds are marked with white pins, the side edge of the course is where the out of bounds begins.
So if your ball was on the outside edge, appearing to split the imaginary line, it would go out of bounds. It is the same if the OB is marked with white paint. The edge on the side of the course of that painting marks the out of bounds. The line itself is out of bounds.
The second part of law 18 covers when the ball is out of bounds:
(2) When the Ball is Out of Bounds. A ball at rest is out of bounds only if it is completely outside the boundary of the course.
A ball is in bounds when any part of the ball:
It lies on or touches the ground with anything else (such as any natural or artificial object) within the boundary, or
It is above the limit or another part of the course.
A player may step out of bounds to play the ball on the court.
