Pedri drops big suggestions for Dani Olmo ahead of Barcelona transfer

Pedri has revealed that he is happy with his Spanish teammate Dani Olmo's move to Barcelona as his transfer from RB Leipzig is coming to an end.

The Euro 2024 winner is expected to be announced as a new Barca player in the coming days after a deal worth at least €55 million was agreed with Leipzig. It will see Olmo return to his former club having left in 2014 to play first team football in Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb.

The 26-year-old has quickly emerged as one of the two biggest transfer targets this summer for the Catalan giants, although their pursuit of Nico Williams is proving tricky despite president Joan Laporta refusing to admit defeat.

In an X Q&A with Place of residencePedri admitted he was delighted with his country's move after qualifying for Euro 2024, finishing the tournament as top scorer with three goals.

He said: “I like Dani Olmo to come to Barcelona, because we get along and he brings a lot to the table. We have seen that in the Euros.”

However, he was not very specific about Williams who changed Athletic Club, adding: “I don't have an answer to that question. What is clear is that he would be a good player for Barca. The Euro showed his strength.”

Olmo made 25 appearances in all competitions for Leipzig last season, scoring eight goals and helping them finish fourth in the Bundesliga after winning the DFL-Supercup earlier in the campaign.

Barca are hoping their deal for the Spaniard can be wrapped up quickly enough for him to feature in the Joan Gamper Trophy clash with Monaco on Monday night. Hansi Flick's team then visits Valencia in their first La Liga game this season as they plan to demolish current champions Real Madrid.
